Feeloh was born from a frustration I'd carried since my early 30s: the "we should hang" text that never turns into an actual plan, or takes three months to happen.
As adults, we carry a quiet assumption that our friends will always be there. That life will slow down eventually and we'll get to it. But it doesn't. Friendships don't end dramatically. They just quietly slip. And when you do finally get together, you spend the whole time catching up instead of actually experiencing something together.
COVID made that impossible to ignore. When life reopened, I got intentional. But I kept asking myself, why is investing in the people I love this hard?
After a pile of research, I realized I wasn't the only one feeling this way (phew 😅). Most of us aren't missing the desire to see our friends. We just don't have the time or energy it takes to make it happen. Not because we're lazy or not trying. Adulting is hard!
The numbers back it up. In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General declared loneliness an epidemic, and Americans now spend less than half as much time with friends as they did twenty years ago.
Work had taken over my life. I wasn't really living. I was just passing through, and I didn't even realize it was happening. I wanted and deserved more. And so did my friendships.
So I left my corporate job to build the fix. Girl, did I build 😉
Then I took Feeloh off the screen and into the room. I teamed up with Rochester venues on seven Feeloh nights, and more than 50 people came to each one, most of them 30+. People want to go out. Local businesses want to be the place they go. What's missing is the effort in between: finding what's happening, and getting your friends to actually commit. That effort is a communication and logistics problem, and Feeloh, your social assistant, makes it easy.
So I stepped back from hosting to focus on building it.
Today, Feeloh does the legwork for you. The restaurant saved in your notes app. The painting class you’ve been eyeing since last winter. The hike that keeps getting postponed. Feeloh finds them, invites your friends, and locks in the plan. Then you put your phone down, show up, and do it all over again.
